Laura Phipps

Laura Phipps is currently a sophomore piano performance major. When she was 6 years old, Laura’s mother began to teach her how to play the piano. With 6 older siblings who played, Laura was learned to be competitive, and growing up she participated in multiple competitions and festivals. In 2008, Laura performed the second movement of Beethoven’s 5^th concerto with the UC Davis orchestra in a master class given by Leon Fleisher. Currently she is studying under Dr. Jeffrey Shumway at BYU and plans to eventually teach at a college level. Apart from the piano, Laura loves to crochet and to play soccer, and she will eat practically anything but pancakes.
