Carlene Albrechtsen

I am currently a senior in the Piano Performance program at BYU in Dr. Richard Anderson's studio. I am in my 15th year of piano study. Music has been a central part of my life from a very young age. Long before piano lessons started I would make up long drawn out songs straight from my over-active imagination. Through the years I have also tried out voice lessons, dance lessons, trumpet, a little percussion, and the flute. But the piano is the instrument that drew my focus and passion. In 9th grade I decided to try developing my musical talents in a new way by teaching beginning students. The oldest in a family of six children, I had no shortage of siblings to teach. During my four years in High School I little studio of one or two students grew to nine before I had to leave them all for college. I find the greatest joy and satisfaction in music through teaching and composing. My favorite composers are Beethoven and Grieg and my current favorite piano work is the 2nd Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto but that tends to be subject to change. Outside of music, I also love meteorology and mathematics and have a slight addiction to Oreos.
